I have moved several times within Missouri, and once from Missouri to Springfield, Illinois and back. Some of the first few things that I check during my moves are the local library, local parks, and annual community events. What I have observed is that a thriving library patronage, great parks, and well-attended and sponsored annual events are all reflections of a great local community as a unit. We sure have our favorites, some of which you will see pictures of in my other blog posts.

- Augusta Bottoms Beer Fest (October 1, 2022) Annual fundraiser for families in the Greater Saint Louis area that have children fighting disabilities
- Plein Air Art Festival (April 20-30, 2022) Over 100 artists scattered about the small towns of Defiance, New Melle, and Augusta, capturing and recreating the rolling hills of wine country, the Missouri river bluff, prosperous farmland, the Katy Trail and historic structures.
- Gingerbread Haus Contest (December 2-9, 2022) The public is asked to be the judges.
- Augusta Christmas Walk. (December 2-9, 2022) Over 1,000 luminaries, Santa Claus awaits at the Edelweiss Guest House and horse-drawn carriages trot around town square.
- Holiday House Tour (December 3, 2022) Tour five beautifully decorated homes on the quaint, picturesque streets of Augusta.
- Harvest Festival + Dinners (September 16-17, 2022) A gourmet picnic in the vinyard, parade, 5K run, pie contest, children’s activities, live music, winery passport, and five-course dinner with wine pairings.
